Stay in touch with Penn State

Saying farewell to Penn State won't be easy, but you will never be too far away thanks to a free, lifetime digital identity called Friends of Penn State. Whether you leave the University or you are a recent graduate, you can forever stay connected to Penn State with your Friends of Penn State account.

The same Penn State Access Account with which you began your Penn State career is now yours to keep; however, you must confirm your personal information in order to take advantage of this service.

STEP 1:
Visit the Friends of Penn State confirmation page for new users and authenticate with your Penn State Access Account userid and password. The page will present pertinent information about you such as your name and permanent address. Following this information is a set of password reminder questions, one of which you will need to choose in order to proceed with and complete the confirmation process.
STEP 2:
Once you complete and submit the form, a third page appears to confirm your lifetime digital identity information. You can change this information as necessary by visiting the Friends of Penn State Web site.

Though your lifetime digital identity userid is the same as your Penn State Access Account userid, it will not entitle you to the same services once your Access Account expires. For graduates, the expiration is six months after graduation; for non-grads/those leaving the University, the expiration is 45 days after departure.

At this time, Friends of Penn State does not provide for access to e-mail or other services such as Personal Web pages, dial-up, the Penn State Portal, Student Computing Labs, etc. During the six month period after graduation, you will be able to use those services but once your Access Account expires, so too will these privileges.

Several centralized, student-based University services are making or have made the transition to Web-based applications for their business transactions and use Friends of Penn State as the primary method for serving these transactions. With your Friends of Penn State digital identity, you can authenticate to a variety of Web-based applications and services to:
